THE STRIKE OF DENGUE FEARS MALAYSIANS

MUHAMMAD IFTAR MUBARAK BIN ABD SAMAT (PTM140716772)

Dengue fever is a desease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquito.

It's an acute illness of sudden onset that usually follows a benigns course with symptom such as headache , fever , exhaustion , severe muscle and join pain , rash and swollen glands or in scientific name is lymphadenopathy.
The presence or dengue-triad of fever , rash and headache and other pains is particulary characteristic of dengue. Other sign of dengue fever including bleeding gums , severe pain behind eyes , and red palm and soles. Dengue strikes people with low levels of immunity. Because it is caused by one of four serotypes of virus, it is possible to get dengue fever many times. However , an attack of dengue produces immunity for a lifetime to that particular serotype to which patient was exposed.

Dengue goes by other names ,
including "breakbone" and "dancy fever". Victims of dengue often have contortions due to the intense joint and muscle pain , hence the name breakbone fever. Slaves in the West Indies who contracted dengue were said to have dancy fever because of their postures and gait.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a more severe form of the viral illness. Manifastations include headache , fever , rash , and evidence of hemorrhagic in the body. Petechiae is small red or purple blisters under the skins , bleeding in the nose or gums , black stools , or easy bruising are all possible signs of hemorrhagic. This form of dengue fever can be life-threatening and can progress to the most severe form of the illness , dengue shock syndrome.

How is dengue fever contracted?
The virus is contracted from the bites of a striped Aedes aegypti mosquito that has previously bitten an infected person. The mosquito flourishes during raining seasons but can breed in water filled flower pots , plastic bags , and cans year-round. One mosquito bite can inflict the disease.

The virus is not contagious and cannot be spread directly from person to person.
There must be a person-to-mosquito-to-another-person pathway.

The Strike of Dengue Fears Malaysian

Zharif Safiuddin Bin Abdul Halim (PTM140716755)

Dengue fever is a disease caused by the female Aedes mosquito. This infectious disease if not treated immediately can lead to death. In Malaysia, the number of cases of dengue were reported due to increase every year . Factors that cause dengue fever is spread by the bite of mosquitoes carrying dengue virus
In addition, the disease is also caused by infections from people who have had dengue fever virus in human body to another. There are few signs of an attack on a person infected with dengue fever. Among them, a sudden high fever and persistent red spots on the skin and severe pain in bones, muscles, joints eyes, and head. If a person is diagnosed with dengue fever, the primary treatment is avoidance of the patient to drink water. Patients must also be sent to the hospital immediately for further treatment. Actually, dengue fever can be prevented if people are concerned about the cleanliness and health. This is because most cases of dengue fever were reported, resulting from their homes and the home page is dirty.

Thus, the practice of a clean and healthy lifestyle should be practiced so that the case of the deadly disease can be reduced to a minimum. We must always remember and be aware of our surroundings clean and homes that do not become breeding grounds.

The strike of dengue fears Malaysians

Dengue , also known as breakbone fever, is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rashthat is similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.

Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally A. aegypti. The virus has five different typesinfection with one type usually gives lifelong immunity to that type, but only short-term immunity to the others. Subsequent infection with a different type increases the risk of severe complications. As there is no commercially available vaccine, prevention is sought by reducing the habitat and the number of mosquitoes and limiting exposure to bites.

What are the symptoms of dengue fever?

After being bitten by a female mosquito that is infected, the virus can stay in the blood vessel system for 3 to 14 days and cause disease. Manifestations of dengue fever vary depending on age and level of immunity of a person. For children rather large as well as adults, signs of dengue fever is not much different from other viral infections (viral fever) as follows: -

fever
Aching joints and muscles
Pain behind the eyes
headache
Nausea and vomiting
rash
Bleeding gums (due to the decrease in blood clotting cells)
Baby is not immune from this dangerous outbreak. Signs of infection in infants is relatively non-specific, such as fever, rash and less feeding. The fever may last up to 10 days 7.

How dengue infection is confirmed?

In the early stages of fever, blood tests 'Full Blood Count' may be normal or decreased white blood cell count and blood clotting cells followed. Liver enzymes may also show abnormal readings.

To confirm dengue infection, the test can be carried out, including the detection of dengue antigen in the first 5 days of the appearance of symptoms or detection of antibodies against the virus 5 days after that.

What is the treatment and vaccine for dengue fever?

There is no specific treatment for dengue fever. Treatment given only in the form of support. Monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate and speed of blood analysis is an important component that is focused by the treating doctor.

Vaccine for dengue is still in its test and development then no longer be used for the foreseeable future.

There is no clinical evidence to prove that taking food such as crab soup, pomegranate juice or any -What medicines and supplements can help in the treatment of dengue fever.

Let us all Malaysians together to work together to reduce dengue cases and deaths caused by it.

Dengue is one of the most common mosquito-borne viral disease of humans. Dengue mostly occurs in the tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world. Outbreaks of dengue fever usually occur in the rainy season.
Dengue viruses are transmitted to humans through the bites of a striped Aedes aegypti mosquito that has previously bitten an infected person. Dengue does not spread directly from person to person. It is only spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
The disease itself is rarely fatal, but a more serious complication, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is far more dangerous. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is a more severe and potentially deadly form of the disease in which  bleeding and sometimes shock occurs. It can be fatal if unrecognised and not properly treated.
Nowadays many people suffer from dengue. Dengue fever is an infectious disease carried by mosquitoes and caused by any four related dengue viruses. This disease used to be called break bone fever because it sometimes causes severe joint and muscle pain. Dengue fever is a quite dangerous febrile disease can be found in the tropics and water stagnant outdoors . Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which also transmits diseases as yellow fever.

Dengue has frightened Malaysians country. Malaysia released about 6,000 genetically modified mosquitoes into a forest in the first experiment of its kind in Asia aimed at curbing dengue fever,
The field test is meant to pave the way for the use of genetically engineered Aedes aegypti male mosquitoes to mate with females and produce no offspring or ones with shorter lives, thus curtailing the mosquito population. Only female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes spread dengue fever, which killed 134 people in Malaysia last year.

Government authorities have tried to allay the concerns by saying they are conducting small-scale research and will not rush into any widespread release of mosquitoes. The Malaysian government-run Institute for Medical Research said it released about 6,000 sterile male lab mosquitoes in an uninhabited forest area in eastern .

The symptoms of dengue fever are severe headache, pain in the muscles and joints, and rash that can be described as small red spots. Some patients experience gastritis, diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Dengue fever usually starts suddenly with a high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, and pain in the muscles and joints. A rash usually appears 3 to 4 days after the start of the fever.Nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite are common.

Each type of the dengue virus is re-emerging worldwide.Global warming has shown to be a major

contributor to the spread of dengue fever. Global warming can cause dry spells in some countries and increased rainfall and humidity in others. The dry spells reduce small medium bodies of water like springs and ponds to small puddles that become potential breeding ground for mosquitoes. Likewise increased rainfall and humidity also leads to collection of water that affords possible breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Dengue is spread by the Aedes Aegypti, a domestic, day biting mosquito that prefers to bite humans. They breed in clean water. Currently there is no vaccine available to prevent dengue. Scientists are also trying to invent a vaccine against dengue fever, but the researches are only at the stage of experiments yet. The only treatment is rest and intake of plenty of fluids like water, juices, milk and many more.

To prevent the spread of dengue fever, you must first prevent the breeding of its vector, the Aedes mosquito. The Aedes mosquito is easily identifiable by the distinctive black and white stripes on its body. It prefers to breed in clean, stagnant water easily found in our homes. You can get rid of the Aedes mosquito by frequently checking and removing stagnant water in your premises.

At present, the only method of preventing and controlling dengue fever is to eradicate the mosquito population. They are a number of ways to combat the vector mosquitoes.First,Improved water storage practices. Cover all containers to prevent egg laying female mosquitoes access to it. Implement proper solid waste disposal.Eliminate any sources that may collect water such as tins, bottles, plastic food containers and old tires. Mosquitoes breed easily in any source of standing water. Then, appropriate insecticides, such as larvicide's can be added to water containers and man-made ponds. The insecticides can prevent mosquitoes breeding for several weeks. However, they must be re-applied as per directions. You have to always clean and check drains to ensure they are not blocked especially during the rainy season. Breed small mosquito-eating fishes in an artificial pond to eradicate the mosquito larvae. In addition to the above, there are a number of factors to help prevent the mosquito being attracted to human prey.Avoid wearing dark and tight clothing because mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours. Wear loose, white and long clothes, which cover the whole body. Mosquitoes find it difficult to bite through loose clothes than tight fitting clothes.

Environmental conditions, It is suggested to sleep under mosquito netting or in a room which has mosquito screens on the windows. Mosquitoes are unlikely to bite in an air-conditioned room and under strong fans. Mosquito coils are also useful to help prevent mosquitoes from entering the room.
pply mosquito repellants.Avoid reduce outdoor activities during morning and late afternoon because Aedes mosquitoes are daytime feeders.

Dengue fever is a disease caused by a family of viruses that are transmitted by mosquitoes. The presence of fever, rash, and headache is particularly characteristic of dengue. Other signs of dengue fever include  severe pain behind the eyes, and red palms and soles.

The virus is not contagious and cannot be spread directly from person to person. There must be a person to mosquito or to another person pathway.

The sign of dengue fever are after being bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus, the incubation period ranges from three to 15 (usually five to eight) days before the signs and symptoms of dengue appear in stages. Dengue starts with chills, headache, pain upon moving the eyes, and low backache. Painful aching in the legs and joints occurs during the first hours of illness. The temperature rises quickly as high as 104 F (40 C), with relatively low heart rate (bradycardia) and low blood pressure (hypotension). The eyes become reddened. A flushing or pale pink rash comes over the face and then disappears. The lymph nodes in the neck and groin are often swollen.
Fever and other signs of dengue last for two to four days, followed by a rapid drop in body temperature (defervescence) with profuse sweating. This precedes a period with normal temperature and a sense of well-being that lasts about a day. A second rapid rise in temperature follows. A characteristic rash appears along with the fever and spreads from the extremities.

Doctors can diagnose dengue infection with a blood test to check for the virus or antibodies to it. If you become sick after traveling to a tropical area, let your doctor know. This will allow your doctor to evaluate the possibility that your symptoms were caused by a dengue infection. There is no specific medicine to treat dengue infection. If you think you may have dengue fever, you should use pain relievers with achetaminophen and avoid medicines with aspirin , which could worsen bleeding. You should also rest, drink plenty of fluids, and see your doctor. If you start to feel worse in the first 24 hours after your fever goes down, you should get to a hospital immediately to be checked for complications.

Malaysians should be concern about this dangerous desease because it might kill us or the person that we love.

The Meaning of Aidilfitri for me

1. Nur Alia Nabilah Bt Ibrahim (PTM140716791)

Eid celebration is a Muslim Holiday that marks the end of Ramadhan , the islamic holy month of dawn to sunset fasting.Hari Raya Aidilfitri is one of the biggest holidays in Malaysia, and many Muslims and even Non-Muslims return to their family home driving or flying home for a couple of days before the day to be with their families and loved ones. There are often jams during this travelling time but these soon resolve as other travellers reach their destination. Before we celebrate Aidilfitri, the Muslims must fast for a month before Syawal .It is mandatory for Muslims to fast from dawn. The fast of Ramadan encourages self-restraint, God-consciousness, compassion, and collective worship.

During the daylight hours, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, and sexual activity, while striving to avoid all evil speech and any bad thoughts or actions.Meals are taken before dawn and after sunset, known respectively as suhoor and iftar. At dusk, many gather to break the fast by eating dates and drinking water, following the example of the Prophet Muhammad. The nights of Ramadan are a time for families and friends, often a festive occasion with special foods.I still remember when i was 6 years old my mom have trained me to fasting .It could be a tiring day for me at that age to fast for more than 7 hours but i have made it.For me if i could not stand my desire of eating nor drinking i failed to have a 'duit raya' from my parents or grandparents
After all above , the best moments celebrating Aidilfitri. The big promotion will be all over the shopping mall. The Muslims will buy new clothes and supplies.Everyone will be busy of what they gonna buy.Everything will be new.The Hari Raya songs will be played in the radio and drama of raya will be on the television. On the eve celebration my family and i will gather at my village at Kuala Kangsar as usual before Hari Raya my mother and aunties will be busy preparing food, cakes, ketupat , lemang and 'rendang ayam'.The favourite meal in my village is lemang ,ketupat and rendang. It is compulsary to be served on that day.If the women busy at the kitchen, the men will be busy clearing  the house compound. At night , i will lit up the oil lamp all over the house.

On the eid Aidilfitri, We will wake up early to perform a Subuh prayer then i help my mother to prepare breakfast .After that i will put on my new baju raya. All of us will be excited of showing our new baju raya on the first Aidilfitri. We started celebrates Aidilfitri with families member. It is fun when we still get 'duit raya' eventhough i am already a college student but i am worth it to get those 'duit raya'.There is always sad scene whereas everybody started hugs each other and  seek forgiveness. Then we can celebrates Aidilfitri with friends.

For me the most meaningful time where we will seek forgiveness among ourselves especially to our parents.Aidilfitri is one of the meaningful event for Muslims .It is the day where we enjoy the winning after a month fasting.
